Bangladesh's Second FSRU Completes First STS Transfer
Bangladesh’s second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) completed its first ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of LNG May 23, operator Summit Power International said May 24.
The vessel, Summit LNG, received 159,000 m3 of LNG from Oman Trading International. The LNG tanker Creole Spirit carried LNG from Bethioua, Algeria, Summit Power International said. The next STS transfer is due in early June. The vessel, Summit LNG, arrived last month carrying LNG from Qatar. The FSRU can vaporise 500mn ft3/day of pipeline gas.
Summit LNG Terminal, a unit of Summit Power International, has signed the FSRU time charter party agreement for 15 years with Excelerate Energy. This project is part of Summit Power International’s $1bn investment programme by 2020 to deliver power and gas to Bangladesh.
