Bangladesh Invites Bid for LNG Terminal

Bangladesh has invited four foreign firms to submit bids for the first liquefied natural gas terminal for Bangladesh, media reports said.

The country’s annual gas output is about 630 billion cubic feet and proven reserves total an estimated 1.4 trillion cubic feet.

The foure firm which have been invited are Golar LNG, South Korea's Samsung, India's Hiranandani Electricity and a U.S. consortium, Astra Oil and Excelerate Energy, for an LNG import terminal in the Bay of Bengal.

The floating LNG terminal could handle as much as 5 million tons of LNG per year and have a regasification capacity of at least 500,000 million cubic feet per day.
