Baker Hughes to supply Venture's Plaquemines LNG
Baker Hughes said March 9 it had been granted notice to proceed to supply a liquefaction train system to the first phase of Venture Global's 20mn metric tons/year Plaquemines LNG export plant.
The oil and gas services company has adopted a "plug and play approach", and will begin delivering 24 "modular turbo-machinery units" to Venture's Italian manufacturing plants in the first half of 2023. It will also provide field services to support commissioning.

Under its existing master equipment supply deal with Venture, Baker Hughes' technology will support 70mn mt/yr of liquefaction capacity for the Venture Global portfolio, seemingly up from 60mn mt/yr when it was originally agreed. It has already confirmed a contract to supply Plaquemines with power generation and electrical distribution equipment.
Venture Global CEO Mike Sabel labelled Baker Hughes an "outstanding partner" that would significantly contribute to Plaquemines LNG. Baker Hughes built 18 modularised compression trains for Venture Global's newly-launched Calcasieu Pass LNG export terminal, all finalised ahead of schedule.
Calcasieu Pass holds the world record for delivery of a large-scale greenfield LNG project, having been launched in February only 29 months after a final investment decision was taken.
"I want to thank [Baker Hughes] CEO Lorenzo Simonelli and his team for their execution and delivery at Calcaseiu Pass, notwithstanding the challenges of a global pandemic," Sabel said. "Together we will continue to innovate and transform the LNG industry, bringing this essential fuel to the global market to meet the world's growing energy needs."
