APA: Implementation of Southern Gas Corridor to be discussed during Azerbaijani President's visit to Brussels

“Azerbaijan meets 5% of Europe’s oil demand. Following Russia and Norway, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are the main suppliers of energy resources to the European markets,” said head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia at the Caspian oil and gas conference, APA reports. He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan would have a leading position as an exporter of gas to Europe in future.

Touching on the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor, through which the natural gas will be delivered to Europe, Ambassador noted that it is not simply a project, but a concrete opportunity. He said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev will visit Brussels late in June at the invitation of president of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.

“I think this meeting will cause an improvement in the issue related to the Southern Gas Corridor,” he said. (The visit will take place on June 21).  MORE
