Azerbaijan Moves Closer to Poland
Azerbaijan is trying to bet on cooperation with Western companies and Polish institutions, confirming both Poland and Azerbaijan's intentions to maintain its business ties with Europe.
‘AGH University of Science and Technology and Baku Higher Oil School signed Memorandum of Understanding… Welcoming the guests, Rector Elmar Gasimov expressed his delight and noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Poland had deep historical roots,’ Socar wrote on its website.
The deal might seem a secondary achievement, but it is an important signal of Azeri intentions.
Last year, Socar President Rovnag Abdullayev reinforced the company’s ties with the Institute of French Petroleum (IFP School), proving it gives importance to cooperation with international universities and academies. It also showed Baku’s strategy to focus on the European countries with the best potential in the energy sector. After France, Poland does indeed seem the most promising one.
Likewise, Socar is also promoting a partnership with an American Institution.
‘On July 8, the Agreement was officially signed between Emerson and Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) under State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Baku, Azerbaijan. Under the Agreement, organizations will take stepwise actions to support research and educational programs on process automation at oil and gas enterprises.’
