Avenir LNG Sees Third Vessel Launched
Avenir LNG's third 7,500 m³ dual-purpose, liquefied natural gas supply and bunkering vessel, Avenir Aspiration, has now been launched, it said January 8. The vessel was built by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering and will conduct sea trials in time for mid-year delivery.
The same yard is also building an additional 7,500 m³ and two 20,000 m³ LNG carriers, all for delivery later this year, doubling the number of vessels in Avenir’s fleet.
Avenir LNG CEO Peter Mackey said its fleet was the "backbone of Avenir’s asset-enabled LNG supply strategy, and we look forward to taking delivery of the Avenir Aspiration later in the year.”
Avenir LNG supplies small-scale LNG to off-grid industry, power generation and transport fuel sectors as well as providing infrastructure to support the development of LNG as a marine fuel. The 7,500 m³Avenir Advantage was chartered by Petronas last November, for bunkering operations.
