Australia’s east coast LNG exports dip in May

Australia’s LNG exports from the east coast totalled 1.89mn tonnes in May, down 1.56% year/year, according to data released by Gladstone Port Corp. on June 6.

China was the leading importer, receiving 1.45mn tonnes of Australian LNG last month, an increase from the previous year's 1.17mn tonnes. South Korea imported 259,494 tonnes, up from 226,018 tonnes last year. Malaysia imported 186,271 tonnes of LNG, down from 248,353 tonnes last year.

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Origin-operated Australia Pacific LNG, Santos's Gladstone LNG, and Shell's Queensland Curtis LNG.

In 2023, the three projects exported a total of 22.9mn tonnes of LNG, an increase of 1.14% year-on-year.
