Australian Strike, Halliburton Sign MoU
Australian coalbed methane explorer Strike Energy has provisionally given US engineers Halliburton the right of first refusal to provide integrated drilling, completion and stimulation services for the first 50 wells to be executed as part of the proposed Phase-1 development of the Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project in PEL 96.
Halliburton, in collaboration with Ensign, has been contracted to deliver the Jaws-1 appraisal well for the PEL 96 joint venture which is set to spud on February 14.
“The grant of the right of first refusal is contingent on Halliburton’s successful execution of the Jaws-1 appraisal well and the declaration of commercial success in respect of the Klebb area within PEL 96,” Strike said February 7.
Strike Energy owns 66.667% interest joint venture interest in PEL 96, and Australian Gasfields, a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy World Corporation, holds the rest.
Strike’s Southern Cooper Basin Gas Project (PEL 94, 95 and 96) is targeting the gas potential of a series of very thick coal seams across a large portion of the permits.
