Australian EWC Gets LNG Carrier at its Philippines LNG Terminal

Australia listed Energy World Corporation January 16 announced the arrival of LNG carrier Ocean Quest at its Pagbilao LNG terminal in the Philippines’ Quezon province. The carrier can store up to 128,000 m³ of LNG. It will be dedicated to the Pagbilao hub but it can collect cargoes as it has sufficient capacity to act as floating storage. It also has onboard regasification and processing equipment should regasified LNG be needed to be supplied to power plants.

Ocean Quest is owned by Hong Kong LNG, a subsidiary of Energy World Corporation. The carrier will move to Singapore and return to the Pagbilao hub after construction is complete.

The LNG terminal consists of two full-containment onshore energy tanks with pump capacity of 130,000 m³/hr each, regasification facility, jetty, and supporting infrastructure. The terminal will act as a hub for onward distribution of LNG throughout the Philippines. Adjacent to the terminal, Energy World Corporation is also developing a 650-MW gas power plant. According to Manila Times, the company is waiting for the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ final approval to fully operate the terminal.
