Australian east coast LNG exports up 6% in September

LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast reached 2.02mn tonnes in September, showing a 6.3% increase compared with the same period in the previous year, according to Gladstone Port Corp. data published on October 6.

China was the largest importer of Australian LNG last month, receiving 1.13mn tonnes, indicating an increase from 0.9mn tonnes in September 2022. South Korea imported 297,638 tonnes, which was lower than the 381,055 tonnes received in the same period last year. Japan imported 263,640 tonnes, up from 127,213 tonnes in the corresponding period last year.

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG. In the year 2022, the combined LNG exports from these projects amounted to 22.64mn tonnes, which was slightly below the record high of 23.47mn tonnes achieved in 2021.
