Australia Pacific LNG ships 1,000th cargo
Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), a partnership between Origin, ConocoPhillips, and China's Sinopec, recently celebrated a milestone with the shipment of its 1,000th LNG cargo, it said on April 17.
Departing from APLNG’s LNG facility on Curtis Island near Gladstone, the cargo was transported aboard the Cesi Gladstone, bound for China.
Since its inception, APLNG has not only bolstered local employment but has also been a major contributor to the economy, generating benefits exceeding A$5bn, it stated. These benefits have been realised through various avenues, including state government royalties, local government rates, spending with local businesses, access agreements with landholders, and community investments.
APLNG stands as Australia's largest producer of coalbed methane (CBM), contributing significantly to Queensland's domestic gas market. Moreover, APLNG processes CBM into LNG for export purposes.
