Aussie LNG export revenue up 28% in March: EnergyQuest
Australian LNG export revenue in March was A$7.2bn ($4.83bn), higher than the A$6.9bn in February and up by 28% on March 2022, energy consultant EnergyQuest said on April 18.
Western Australian projects earned export revenue of A$4.5bn, Queensland projects A$1.9bn and Northern Territory projects A$0.8bn.
Australian LNG projects shipped 7.16mn metric tons of LNG in March, up on 6.69mn mt in February. Overall, Australia’s March 2023 shipments were 84.3mn mt/year on an annualised basis, EnergyQuest said.
West Coast shipments were higher at 5.3mn mt in March compared with 4.6mn mt last year. West coast projects operated at 99% of nameplate capacity last month. East Coast LNG shipments were steady at 1.9mn mt in March versus 1.8mn mt a year ago. The east coast projects operated at 85% of nameplate capacity.
In March, 30 cargoes were delivered to China after delivering 18 in February and 22 in March 2022. Thirty-five deliveries were made to Japan in March, after 43 were delivered in February and 38 were delivered in March 2022, EnergyQuest said. Australia delivered 13 cargoes to Korea in March, five less than the 18 in February and lower on the deliveries of last year when 23 cargoes were delivered.
