Aussie LNG export revenue up 182% in May: EnergyQuest
Australian LNG export revenue in May was A$7.53bn ($5.2bn), up 182% year/year, energy consultant EnergyQuest said on June 15. The revenue was up 23.2% month/month.
Australian projects shipped 6.91mn metric tons of LNG in May, up from 6.38mn mt in April. In May Australian projects shipped an average 3.3 cargoes/day, up on the 3.1 cargoes/day in April.

Wheatstone shipped eight more cargoes due to scheduled maintenance being completed in mid-May, Gorgon shipped three more cargoes and GLNG and Prelude each shipped one more cargo than in April. QCLNG shipped three fewer cargoes while Darwin shipped one less cargo. Other projects were steady with April, EnergyQuest said.
In May, 29 cargoes were delivered to China after delivering 25 in April and 44 in May 2021. Forty-three deliveries were made to Japan in May, after 36 were delivered in April and 26 delivered in May 2021. Australia delivered 12 cargoes to Korea in May, up from 10 in April and up on the deliveries of last year when six cargoes were delivered.
West coast shipments increased to 5mn mt in May compared with 4.3mn mt in April. A year ago, the west coast shipped 55 cargoes of 3.8mn mt. West coast projects operated at 94% of nameplate capacity during May.
East Coast LNG shipments decreased to 1.9mn mt in May from 2.1mn mt in April and 2mn mt a year ago. The east coast projects operated at 86% of nameplate capacity during May.
Overall, Australia’s May shipments were 81.3mn mt/year on an annualised basis.
