Aussie east coast LNG exports up 13% in October

LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast reached 2.11mn tonnes in October, showing a 13.4% increase compared with the same period in the previous year, according to Gladstone Port Corp. data published on November 6.

China was the largest importer of Australian LNG last month, receiving 1.37mn tonnes, indicating an increase from 1.1mn tonnes in October 2022. South Korea imported 239,985 tonnes, which was lower than the 277,141 tonnes received in the same period last year. Japan imported 190,354 tonnes, down from 307,071 tonnes in the corresponding period last year.

The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG. In the year 2022, the combined LNG exports from these projects amounted to 22.64mn tonnes, which was slightly below the record high of 23.47mn tonnes achieved in 2021.
