Aussie east coast LNG exports up 11% in January
Australian LNG exports from the east coast were 2mn tonnes in January, up 11.1% year/year, according to data published by Gladstone Port Corp. on February 6.
China continues to remain a key player, importing 1.04mn tonnes of LNG, up from 976,398 tonnes in January of the previous year. Korea imported 451,943 tonnes, up from 410,533 tonnes in January 2023. Malaysia and Japan also contributed to the increase, importing 306,536 tonnes and 201,443 tonnes, respectively.
The three projects responsible for these LNG exports from the Australian east coast are Origin-operated Australia Pacific LNG, Santos's Gladstone LNG, and Shell's Queensland Curtis LNG.
In 2023, the three projects exported 22.9mn tonnes of LNG, up 1.14% year/year.
