Aussie east coast LNG exports drop 8% in December
LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast in December came in at 1.85mn metric tons, down 8% year/year, Gladstone Port Corp. said on January 6. The exports were down over 4% month/month.
Exports to China were 991,261 mt, down from 1.32mn mt last year. The data showed that the east coast projects exported 222,055 mt of LNG to South Korea last month, down from 285,975 mt a year ago. The exports to Japan were 327,356 mt, up from 119,509 mt last year. Malaysia imported 307,202 mt, up from 186,459 mt.

The three east coast projects are Australia Pacific LNG, Gladstone LNG, and Queensland Curtis LNG. LNG exports from these projects came in at 22.64mn mt for the full year, down from a record 23.47mn mt in 2021.
The three LNG exporters in late September signed a heads of agreement with the Australian government to increase the gas supply to the domestic market.
