Aramco strikes low-carbon tech deals with French firms

Saudi Aramco has signed several agreements with French firms on developing low-carbon technologies, the national oil company reported on December 4.

Aramco said it had agreed with Gaussin to explore a possible business for hydrogen-powered vehicles. The pair will look at establishing a manufacturing facility for on-road and off-road hydrogen vehicles in Saudi Arabia, as well as developing a hydrogen distribution business.

The state-owned company also said it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Air Liquide on evaluating low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production, as well as associated logistics and backtracking. It signed a second MoU with the company  on evaluating carbon capture and sequestration opportunities.

The agreements were reached at a government-organised event in Jeddah. Aramco also signed a MoU with Alteia on developing advanced artificial intelligence-driven geospatial imagery interpretation and processing capabilities in Saudi Arabia, and a MoU with Axens on local manufacturing and maintenance services for furnaces and fired heaters in the kingdom.
