Canadian Anaergia to supply RNG technology to Italy
Canada’s Anaergia said January 20 it had signed a contract to supply its industry-leading organic waste treatment solutions to Italy’s Agriferr, which is developing a renewable natural gas (RNG) project in Treviglio, Italy.
Anaergia will build and operate the plant using a number of proprietary systems, including its first-ever RNG liquefaction system. The plant will include an on-site fueling station for end-users and a biogas upgrading system.
“Italy is a European leader in the adoption of renewable energy and an increasingly important market for Anaergia,” Anaergia CEO Andrew Benedek said. “Furthermore, this project is especially notable because it marks Anaergia’s first sale of a system that will produce renewable LNG at a time when there is fast-growing demand across Europe for this vital commodity. We expect to see follow-up demand for this integrated solution in Italy as well as in a range of other European countries.”
Anaergia’s technology turns organic waste into RNG, fertiliser and water to reduce GHG emissions. The company has projects on four continents in the municipal solid waste, municipal wastewater, agriculture, and food processing industries.
