Anadarko Ups Mozambique Gas Resources Estimate
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has upped the total estimated recoverable resources in its Mozambique Offshore Area 1 operating area to between 50 and 70-plus trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
The latest figures show an increase over previous estimate released in March, when the company announced resources of between 45 and 70 trillion cubic feet.
The Anadarko-operated Offshore Area 1 covers approximately 2.6 million acres in the deepwater Rovuma Basin. Anadarko and its partners have drilled more than 20 successful wells on the block. The company holds 26.5 per cent stake in the gas field.
Other shareholders in the field are Mitsui (20 per cent), ONGC Videsh (16 per cent), Oil India (four per cent), BPRL Ventures (ten per cent) and PTT of Thailand (8.5 per cent). The Mozambican government is represented by Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos which has a 15 per cent stake in the fields.
In cooperation with the government of Mozambique, Anadarko and its partners continue to advance the planned LNG project toward first LNG cargoes in 2018.
