Ambassador Oil & Gas Upgrades Cooper Basin CSG Resources
Ambassador Oil & Gas has said that in place coal seam gas resources in PEL 570 in Cooper Basin has doubled to more than 13 trillion cubic feet. The company is looking to recover between 25% and 50% of this resource.
Ambassador will look to develop this resource to capitalise on robust demand from Australia’s rapidly expanding liquefied natural gas export industry.
The study will now aim to quantify the significant ‘tight’ and ‘deep basin’ gas potential in the permit which could add significant additional gas volumes potentially available for future production.
The deep coal seams in PEL 570 are located around 3000 metres below the surface and are 100 metres thick. They occur in Patchawarra Trough, which host some of the thickest coal seams in Cooper Basin.
The 2,400 square kilometre PEL 570 licence is located 75 kilometres north of the Moomba gas processing facility in South Australia.
