Algeria, Tunisia to Enhance Energy Cooperation
Algiers and Tunis would enhance cooperation in energy related projects, Algeria’s energy minister Youcef Yousfi said Tuesday.
"We have discussed projects interesting the two countries in the field of energy, including the supply of the border towns, like Sakiet Sidi Youcef, with butane and natural gas," the minister told Algeria Press Service after meeting with his Tunisian counterpart, Kamal Benaceur.
Yousfi said Numhyd, the joint venture company between Algeria's Sonatrach and Tunisia's ETAP would achieve good results in exploring hydrocarbons in Algeria and Tunisia.
Numhyd was founded in 2003 and is jointly owned and managed by Algeria's Sonatrach and Tunisia's ETAP, who each own 50%.
"We have discussed oil, gas and renewable energy cooperation," Benaceur said.
The Tunisian minister is on a three-day visit to Algeria.
