Aker Solutions Wins €350 Million Contract From BP Norge
BP Norge has awarded Aker Solutions the contract for modifications and maintenance for the fields Ula, Tambar, Hod, and Valhall in the North Sea and Skarv in the Norwegian Sea off the coast of Nordland, BP said today.
"The frame agreement has been awarded following strong national and international competition," the company wrote on Thursday. "The duration of the contract is 5 years with options for 2+2 years, estimated value is up to NOK 3.2 billion (around €350 million) for the fixed period."
Aker Solutions also recently won an order from Norcem for a feasibility study on the development of the “world’s first commercial-scale carbon capture facility for use in cement production,” the Norway-headquartered company wrote last week.
Earlier this month, Aker Solutions said it had secured contracts for NOK 4 billion in the third quarter.
The case of Aker Solutions show how oil services companies can capitalise on the ongoing push to bring down costs in the industry. This does not mean that services companies are not paying the price of the current market conditions. In September, Aker notified its employees that 500 permanent positions were at risk.
