Aker Carbon Capture, MAN Energy collaborate on CCUS in North America
Aker Carbon Capture and MAN Energy Solutions have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly explore opportunities related to carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) as well as CO2 compression in the North American market, Aker Carbon Capture said on January 23.
This collaboration aims to leverage MAN's expertise in compressor technology and system integration along with Aker Carbon Capture's amine technology and carbon capture products.
The agreement builds on the existing partnership between the two companies, as they are currently working together on delivering a carbon capture plant for the cement industry at Heidelberg Materials' Brevik CCS project in Norway.
North America is identified as a prominent region for CCUS globally, with numerous projects in various stages of development and operation. According to Rystad Energy, the total volume of CO2 captured in this region could reach 200mn tonnes/year by 2030, doubling the size of the current European market.
