AGRI Invites Bids for Feasibility Study

The AGRI LNG Project Company has asked for proposals to conduct a feasibility study on technical and financial viability of the Azerbaijan- Georgia-Romania Interconnector project to ship liquefied natural gas to Europe.

AGRI seeks to transport Azeri gas from Azerbaijan to Romania, culminating in a supply of 7 billion cubic metres of gas supply annually.

Bids for the feasibility project must be submitted by 19 January of next year, with an agreement with the winning tenderer expected for 4 March 2012.

"The project is to transport natural gas from the Caspian area across Azerbaijan and Georgia, to liquefy the methane and ship it, at the Black Sea, to Romania and Hungary, and possibly to other European markets,"  Deputy General Manager of AGRI, Lucian Stancu said yesterday.

The shareholders in the project are State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Romanian Romgaz, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) and Hungarian Magyar Villamos Művek Zrt (MVM).
