AGL Responds to Eastern Australia Domestic Gas Market Study
AGL has stated the importance of increasing NSW gas development in a formal response to the Commonwealth Department of Industry’s Eastern Australia Domestic Gas Market Study.
“There is no question that gas supply arrangements into New South Wales will need to change in the very near future,” AGL Head of Economic Policy and Sustainability, Tim Nelson said in the response.
Supply shortages are likely to occur in the absence of new sources of gas being realised in New South Wales, and there are dire economic and social consequences likely to flow from that, he said.
“While options exist to increase the extent to which supplies can be brought in from other States, producing gas domestically within NSW avoids transportation costs and is the best way to reduce pricing pressures.”
