ABC.az: U.S. blocks Southern Gas Corridor for Iran
The U.S. State Department rules out concessions to Iran in terms of natural gas supplies to Europe.
Special envoy & coordinator for international energy affairs Amos Hochstein has stated in Baku that Iran’s participation in other regional gas projects, in addition to a stake in the development of gas condensate field Shah Deniz, is excluded.
"Iran cannot participate in other projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor, since the existing sanctions against Iran," Mr. Hochstein said.
The Iranian company has a 10% stake in the Shah Deniz Project, and this stake had been received long before sanctions against Iran were imposed.
