New Europe: At UN, Tsipras, Kerry Link Key Pipelines to Wean Off Russian Source
US Secretary of State John Kerry highlighted the strategic importance of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and the Interconnector Greece Bulgaria (IGB) at a half-hour meeting with recently re-elected Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. The US has been pushing for energy diversification of energy supplies to the EU, reducing the bloc’s reliance on Russian gas monopoly Gazprom.
