Norway sets more acreage aside for CO2 storage
Norway's petroleum ministry announced on April 8 that a new area of the North Sea would be allocated for CO2 storage.
Several companies have expressed interest in making use of the area, the ministry said, noting it wanted Norway's continental shelf to become a leading province for CO2 storage. Companies have until June 1, 2022, to apply for the permit.
Two days earlier the ministry awarded two CO2 storage licences in the North Sea to Equinor and the Barents Sea to Equinor, Horisont Energy and Var Energi.
